Spring Creek, the fastest-rising young band in the West, are taking the bluegrass festival circuit by storm. Spring Creek built their foundation on a mastery of the fundamentals of classic bluegrass, yet they create their own contemporary style with a youthful, energetic flare. The Lyons, Colorado quartet play a mix of bluegrass standards and compelling originals, and all four musicians are accomplished lead and harmony vocalists.

The young band, whose members studied together in music school in Texas, have performed and toured for several years, creating a tight, polished sound. Counting such bands as Country Gazette and Hot Rize among their influences, Spring Creek's members have a deep respect for tradition, as well as an innate sense of musical innovation.

Though they clearly appeal to traditional bluegrass fans, Spring Creek’s musicians mix in a little something for everyone at their live shows. Expect to hear a Gillian Welch cover squeezed in between a blazing fast Carter Stanley instrumental and a rip roarin' Bill Monroe tune.

Judges at two recent band competitions agree that Spring Creek have what it takes to deliver the high, lonesome sounds in the Appalachian tradition. The band won the Telluride Bluegrass Festival band contest in June 2007, and won their second Planet Bluegrass title a month later at the 35th annual Rocky Mountain Bluegrass (RockyGrass) Festival held in Lyons.

Spring Creek are the first ever to win back-to-back Planet Bluegrass titles in the same summer and earned the honor of performing on the mainstage at both prestigious festivals—Telluride and RockyGrass—in 2008. They'll also be performing at some of the biggest festivals in the Rocky Mountain region and have a full schedule of shows at clubs and theaters across the West.
